I have worked retail for 38 years. Never, can I remember a time when people were less tolerant and more confrontational. This issue of how to address best wishes during the holiday season has become more of an issue the past several years.
The post is how I choose to deal with it, with respect for all… Rest assured that if I wished to “offend” someone that I could and would be far less discreet that wishing you a “happy holidays”. As General Mattis said, “I come in peace”. I am hopeful for only happy, patient and kind clients in the booth this holiday season.

Peter Edward Rose is the baseball “Hit King”. This photo was taken right after Rose surpassed Ty Cobb and became the all time hit leader in baseball history.

Greetings from Edwards AFB, where I will be with you thru Saturday, November 9. This will be my last time at Edwards until May 2025.
Now I understand that with Halloween having just passed and that with Thanksgiving still to come that many of you might not have Christmas on your radar. That said, I took the entire month of October off to work on Christmas inventory. With this being my first stop on my Christmas tour, I am fully stock with something for every collector, or for that special Christmas gift. I have signed and unsigned sports, musician, actors, military and NASA legends. Did I tell you that I also have Los Angeles Dodgers World Series commemorative items as well….
This is my schedule for the balance of the year…

On a personal note, I have been blessed in my life to have met some wonderful people. Occasionally someone crosses the threshold of client / friend. This usually involves a love of baseball or music. Sadly, today I received an email advising that someone that I considered a “friend” passed away last week. It was an honor and a privilege to have known Bill. I would encourage everyone to hold close those that you love, and to make sure that they know that you love them….
Lastly, make sure that you do your civic duty and vote. We take so much for granted in this wonderful country. Our freedoms and democracy are gifts bestowed upon us with the life’s blood of those that came before us. We owe it to them, ourselves, and to our children to support democracy at the ballot box. If you don’t vote you don’t have the right to complain!

Just a heads up to the Edwards AFB community - I have several boxes containing 4 different Los Angeles Dodger World Series commemorative pieces in transit. In a perfect world they will arrive at my booth this Wednesday. I will have a very limited number of each. This is the first stop in my “Christmas Season” so I am fully stocked with far more than Dodger items. I feel confident that I will have something special for your collection, or your Christmas gift giving needs.

Larry Bird and Magic Johnson are basketball royalty. Best of friends off the court, they were fierce competitors while on the hardwood. Strong bold signatures in team colors, this would look great on your wall.

As a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fans I must tell you that this kid, Elly De La Cruz has all the tools for an exciting Hall of Fame career. As a Reds fan I know that ownership cannot afford him for the long run so I will enjoy him until he becomes a Yankee or a Red Sock, or a Dodger…

Ichiro was a hitting machine, arguably more prolific than Pete Rose and Ty Cobb. A lot of people think that Ichiro was the first Japanese player in MLB, which is wrong, but that for another day.
I really liked the Team Japan photograph and the bold silver autograph. This is another keeper.

I have limited wall space in my studio so when I obtain something new that I really like I sometimes have to remove something and put it into show inventory. The autographed Bono and Elton John are examples of this…

Both are autographed 8” x 10” photographs, double matted to 13” x 14”. Both have strong bold signatures.

*** The Bono sells for $369.95, and the Elton John comes in at $349.95.

I was saddened to see the passing of Dodger legend, Fernando Valenzuela. This is the last autographed cachet that I have, although I may have one other piece in the show inventory. I will find out when I next unload and set up at Edwards AFB November 2-9.
The cachet was produced to commemorate Fernando breaking an ERA record. Cancelled in Los Angeles in 1985, this nearly 30 year old issue was limited to just 1,000 produced.

Sonny Jurgensen, 90 year old NFL Hall of Famer and Washington Redskin legend was a 5 time Pro Bowler and 5 time NFL passing leader. The best way that I know to sum up Jurgensen’s creds is with a quote the legendary Vince Lombardi made to his director of player personal in Green Bay, Pat Peppler. Lombardi said, “If we would have had Sonny Jurgensen in Green Bay, we’d never had lost a game.”

This 8” x 10” photograph has a nice strong signature and measures 13” x 14”.

I love music and am a huge Nils Lofgren fan. A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee with “The E Street Band”, Lofgren started his career joining Neil Young’s band Crazy Horse during the After the Gold Rush period.
In 1984 he joined Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band replacing Stevie Van Zandt. He also formed and fronted his own band, Grin.
Nils continues to tour with both Springsteen and Neil in addition to occasional stints in Ringo’s All Star Band.

This 8” x 10” photograph is beautifully autographed in gold ink with a peace symbol. Pretty cool!

I made a trek to the storage shed this weekend and

I made a trek to the storage shed this weekend and returned with some items that have been there… well maybe since moving to the coast from Minnesota 27 years ago. So I cut some mats and frames and now have 3 more large autographed pieces going into the Christmas inventory.

The Joe Montana “Tunnel” piece is as beautiful as it is rare. My understanding is that it was to be charity project that went south and that the prints were not to have been released. I have seen a few scattered across the country in my travels and always picked them up when I could.
Matted with suede boards, this piece measures
21” x 33”. There are a couple small cosmetic issues so I am discounting this piece…

The gold themed Joe Montana piece is an early Upper Deck Authenticated piece. I have not seen one in decades. I cut suede mats boards for this piece which has dimensions of 25” x 45”.

30+ years ago I participated in a huge sports memorabilia show in Edison, NJ where Joe DiMaggio was a paid autograph guest. There was a vendor there selling some stunning B&W photographs that I had never seen. I purchased two beautiful DiMaggio 16x20’s and paid to have “The Yankee Clipper” autograph them that weekend. This is a gorgeous piece with a bold signature in silver ink, double matted with suede boards and measures 23”x23.25”.

Jim Otto - (Jan. 5, 1938 - May 19, 2024) is football royalty! When I think of the greatest centers of
all-time I think Jim Otto, Mike Webster, and maybe Anthony Munoz. Jim played the entirety of his career with the Oakland Raiders, the first 10 in the AFL prior to the NFL merger. He was a 9 time AFL All Star and a 3 time NFL Pro Bowler. During his tenure the Raiders won 7 division championships and were the AFL Champions in 1967.

Mike Yastrzemski, San Francisco Giants outfielder and fan favorite made his MLD debut on May 25, 2019. On Sept. 9, 2020 he hit is 30 career home run tying Bobby Thomson and Dave Kingman as the quickest Giants to hit 30 HRs in their careers. During the pandemic shortened 2020 season Yaz was 8th in voting for the NL MVP award and won the Willie Mac award for being the teams most inspirational player.

Here are a couple new pieces that are difficult finds. The Mickey Mantle Gateway cachet is the first that I have ever owned. I cannot even find information about the number that were produced. I am guessing that it would be 1,000, but not sure. What I am sure of is that it is a bold beautiful signature of one of the greatest of all time.
The issue was produced to commemorate the 25 anniversary of “M&M Boy” Roger Maris hitting number 61 and Mantle hitting number 54 setting the record for most home runs in a season for teammates.
Cancelled in the Bronx on October 1, 1986, this 36 year old issue is a wonderful collectable for any baseball fan.

I have been looking for an autographed Waylon Jennings for a client for about 4 years. (I will be emailing it to him after I submit this post) Tough one here….
I have framed the photograph and 3x5 index card with suede boards for a very elegant look. That might be the first time that the word elegant is used in a sentence with Waylon???

And the first photograph is why legions of baseball fans loved Pete Rose. “Charlie Hustle” gave 100% each and every day! He played to win every day, and those of you that think that taking Ray Fosse out in the All-Star Game was wrong…. I disagree…

Jim Brown - (Feb. 17, 1936 - May 18, 2023) was named by The Sporting News in 2002 as “the greatest football player ever”, but he was more than football. Jim Brown was a civil rights activist and he had a successful acting career.
Playing 9 seasons, all for Cleveland, Brown was a 3 time NFL MVP, 9 time Pro Bowler, 8 time NFL rushing leader and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971.

Offered today is an autographed Gateway cachet, produced to commemorate the day Brown’s rushing record was eclipsed by Walter Payton, albeit it in his tenth season. Cancelled in Chicago on October 7, 1984, this sold out limited edition cachet was limited to just 1,000. A very desirable piece!

The American Fighter Aces piece is an 11”x14” photograph autographed by Steve Pisanos, Bud Anderson, Amber Aust and Frank McCauley. Outside dimensions are 14.5” x 22.5”
Pisanos, (Nov. 10, 1919 - June 6, 2016) nicknamed “The Flying Greek” was a USAF fighter pilot was credited with shooting down 10 enemy aircraft. By the end of his career he had received 33 decorations and distinctions.
“Bud” Anderson, (Jan. 13-May 17, 2024) was a USAF P-51 fighter pilot and a “Triple Ace” recording 16 aerial victories in his 2 tours against the Luftwaffe. Promoted to the rank of Major at the age of 22, Anderson also flew one tour in Vietnam.
Amber Aust, (Oct. 7, 1921 - June 16, 2020) flew Very Long Range (VLR) fighter missions from Iwo Jima and was one of the last pilots to become a flying ace during WWII. Aust commanded 2 fighter wings and flew 300+ missions in Vietnam
Frank McCauley was a WWII flying ace credited with 5.5 kills while protecting B-17 bombers. McCauley flew 46 missions and was awarded the Silver Star.

Alexander Vraciu was a Navy fighter pilot in WWII. At the end of WWII Vraciu ranked fourth among U.S. Navy’s flying aces with 19 enemy planes downed and another 21 destroyed on the ground. Awarded the Navy Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross and was a Medal of Honor nominee.
