I started this business in 1985 to help myself through college. I swore that when I graduated, I would put all this foolishness aside and get a “real job”. After graduation I moved to Minneapolis, MN where I got that “real job” and quickly learned that I didn’t enjoy the stress and the egos of commercial photography.
It was one of those go to school, get the degree, get the job, quit the job, and start all over again kind of things…
This thing called “Bright Star Images” has been a long, strange trip. Sports memorabilia shows were quite the deal in the 80’s and 90’s, followed by art & craft festivals, street fairs and Christmas gift shows in the 90’s and and into the new millennium. Eventually I was “recruited” by the Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) in January 2009…
The common thread has always been being on the road, somewhere in America and for extended periods of time.
I have been blessed to have met some pretty extraordinary people – had some really great experiences, enjoyed some wonderful meals, and frequented a lot of baseball parks. Many of those parks are now gone, as are many of the good people that I had the pleasure to meet and call friends.
The “silver lining” to the whole Covid-19 pandemic for me is that there are no more trips across country…
These days you will only “catch me” if you are on a military base in California or Arizona. I am old and tired, and as BB King said, “the thrill is gone”. Ya know, after dry camping in the RV at the Walmart parking lot outside Fort Campbell, isn’t everything just downhill anyway..?
And that’s good news for me.
The other good news is that I am still available to assist you with your collection. Please feel free to look through my Instagram photo gallery to view some of the autographed images that I have available. It is but a small sample of my inventory, so please reach out if you don’t see who you’re looking for. A lot of what I do involves assisting clients with their “wish lists”. I am but a phone call or email away…
Thank you for the almost 40 years of experiences and memories.
Thank you for your kindness and for your support.
Know that you are appreciated and that this trip would not have been the same without you.
Stay happy and healthy…
-Dan
